Galatians 6:8  For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.  (ESV)

Paul continues his thematic contrast of the flesh vs. the Spirit (walking in the Spirit/flesh, fruit of the Spirit/works of the flesh, circumcision/freedom from the law in the Spirit, etc.)Flesh v Spirit_the battle is real

Sow spiritual things, starve/kill the flesh – cast off all things that don’t glorify God (as Joel said on Sunday). Teaching the word is sowing. Supporting those who lead/teach is sowing (v. 6-7). Bear one another’s burdens (v. 2). Do good – esp. to those in the ekklesia (v. 10). When you discipline/correct do it in a spirit of gentleness and humility (v. 1) – this is the kingdom of God! Because of the cross of Christ we are new creations and the world means nothing to us (v. 14-15)!

May the grace of out Lord Jesus be with us, all of us (v.18). This is my prayer. Today I will pursue, go hard after, focus on the things of the Spirit and cast off the things of the flesh which neither satisfy nor bring glory to God – with God’s help.

In Jesus’ name – Amen,

Son
