John 11:25 “I am the resurrection and the life. whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, (ESV)
This miracle, the raising of Lazarus, is really a climax in John. It is the last of the 7 signs in John. It also contains one of the 7 “I am” statements of John. “I am the resurrection and the life.” And finally, it looks forward to Jesus’ own resurrection.
John is making such a strong statement here that we just don’t want to miss it. Jesus is the power of God. Jesus is the Son of God. In Him, we conquer death – finally. In Him we have hope. In Him we bring the kingdom of God, with power. In Him we bring hope to the hopeless, lost, hurting, poor, sick, oppressed. He is the resurrection and the life! He is the way. He is the only hope for all humanity (cf. v. 52).
God may I be changed forever. May You be glorified in my steps today and the rest of my life. Bring Your kingdom through me, Lord. Be glorified Lord Jesus, King of Kings – even over death! You are our only hope – the light of the world (cf. v. 9-10).
In Jesus’ name – Amen,
Son
