I’m a singer songwriter. There was a period in my life when I wrote a lot of songs. I also rewrote a lot of old Hymns. Now that I am a full time Pastor and father of 3 I don’t write much anymore. In this series I will be sharing with you some of the songs I have written and the stories behind them. (Abraham & Isaac; The God Who Saves; Mountainside; Abbe’s Song; Sway)
There might be so much that can just get in the way
So I’m getting older now but I cannot remember how…I know its not you… Lord its me.
There are days I remember
Standing there in your hands
Like a fire makes an ember
O I was warmed again
When I was was a young boy you spoke to me then.
Like the wind pushes trees I would sway in your breeze… I know its not you… Lord its me.
Story: This song is a call out from me to God for restoration and peace. It was written during a time that I was experiencing a lack of the sense of the presence of God in my life. I was reminded of times in my past of his presence and how that felt. I was longing for it again as I wrote these lyrics. I wanted to make it clear to God that I understood it was not Him that had moved away but me. “I know its not you… Lord its me.”
