All this southern baptist crap makes me crazy. It is totally crazy in my opinion that Christ followers can create such a lose, lose dilemma for homosexual Christians. We have created a situation where those who have “come out of the closet” so to speak cannot come out of the closet as Christian either, for fear of persecution! So are we not basically saying the kingdom of God is built and kept with lies.
Are Evangelicals Creating A kingdom Built and Kept With Lies?

I think the Southern Baptists have essentially made a hasty resolution that does overlook some people that have been born transgendered.
I also think that the majority of people who claim the “T” in LGBT are not transgendered.
What would you suggest as a better model, Able?
In my mind a better model would involve a pastoral/relational structure less official stands and policy on who’s in, out or recognized. Less position papers on the biblical systematic legislation of morality and more on things like who Jesus is and what discipleship looks like in a community context over and above a personal piety context. I really like some of the ways I see the vineyard movement going.
Maybe it’s a sign from God: There’s nothing wrong with Christians of the LGBT and the Christian church as a whole should start accepting them instead of looking for one more excuse to exclude certain people?
What is a “homosexual Christian”? I thought a “Christian” was one who has inherited the kingdom of God, by believing in Jesus, repenting of his sins, and dying to his self.
This is an article from Huffington Post (which isn’t exactly a conservative media outlet). I am confused about where you think the SBC went wrong? This seems about as compassionate as one can be without completely compromising one’s values. Is compromise the only way out? It seems that no one on the LGBT side of the argument will settle that some simply will not agree with their lifestyle.

What’s the vineyard movement?
Haha Luke Geraty might be a better one to respond here.http://www.vineyardusa.org/site/
Part of the issue here , is this notion of binary . Yes, God created male and female. Nuance is important here . There are a small number of people born with both male and female genitalia . Why ought their bodies be changed to fit into this rigid binary ? Some people want to go so far , as to reject male and female and masculinity and femininity . That will not happen. Clearly some things are more likely to happen if you are male and likewise if you are female. The emphasis here is on more likely . Once one acknowledges nuance here , then it is far more likely to accept Gay Christians . But then if you don’t , you seem to more and more , get extreme or just don’t acknowledge because it is too hard . Hope this makes sense.
