What are YOUR thoughts on this video? by Luke Geraty | Mar 3, 2011 | Eschatology, Hell LOVE WINS. from Rob Bell on Vimeo. What are your thoughts on this video? How can substitutionary atonement be good news? Because it’s the only way we can be changed from enemies of God to His people! joeobrien on March 12, 2011 at 5:14 am The video is well made in my opinion; visually and audibly compelling. As Paul said, Rob does ask some very loaded (but in my opinion GREAT) questions, because that is how the world would ask. He introduces major themes like the message of the gospel, the nature of salvation and the character of God. These are issues that we the church NEED to be able to address clearly and accurately! Best of all, he already has the answers to ALL these questions!! AND he was able to boil it down into a TWO WORD title!!! So my thought is that this book will either be 1) one of the most profound and spiritually enlightened books to come out of the 21st century or 2) toilet paper with a cover. And it’s 4am and I can’t sleep for some reason… Sean Clue on February 20, 2012 at 2:52 pm Rob is an excellent communicator, and has the skills of the 1st and 2nd century sophist Sean Clue on February 20, 2012 at 2:56 pm One thing for sure he is right about what some or lots have communicated as the gospel….. The gospel is not that Jesus rescues us from God…..Jn. 3:16 Frank Emanuel on March 18, 2012 at 11:04 am I know this is much after the fact – but what a brilliant move to generate such controversy to sell books. I actually picked up the book, but like other Bell projects I haven’t dug into it too deeply because I do not find he is that good of a writer. He is a brilliant orator and I think these are compelling and important questions. In fact I’ve had problems with the over emphasis of sub. atonement for years now. And I started out as a Pentecostal street preacher where we would scream this out in public. The absurdity of it all struck me one day and after I berated a young guy for not wanting to come with us onto the street. It was like God let me see my heart and realized that part of me preached this so hard because I wanted to believe it, I wanted to be right. It’s taken years to get over wanting to be right and just wanting to be with Jesus no matter how foolish that makes me look. Submit a Comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
